DONE: Yaktribe Competition 4, Loriel

Loriel is done. It took me a while to get him painted but I got it done.

Base:
The base is Citadel's Calthan Brown, the sand-glue-paint-water-mix is also colored with it.
The cork is painted with Citadel Codex Grey and washed with Citadel Devlan Mud. Then the cork wash drybrushed with Citadel Dheneb Stone.

The grass on the base is Army Painter's Highland Tuft. Bits on the base are painted with Citadel Dwarf Bronze and Citadel Chainmail. The bronze tube was washed with Devlan Mud and wash made of  watered down Vallejo Hawk Turquoise and the steel bits were washed with Devlan Mud and watered down Citadel Blazing Orange.

Also made a shady gif. I need to construct a some kind of 360 photo stand for these kind of gifs for the future...

WIP: Yaktribe Competition 4, part 4

Just a quick update on Loriel, started painting. Base coats done, some washing done and started highlighting things.
It's still needs a lot of work but there's still some time left.
Also started making x-mas tree decorations with plastic beads with the kids, here is one of them, the Shovel Knight. Going to fill the x-mas tree with retro game characters.

Body: GW Iob High Elf Seaguard Stantard bearer
Left arm: GW CSM Chaos Cultist
Right arm: Mantic Zombie
Backpack, knife and belt-buckle-pocket-thing: GW Astra Militarium Cadian Shock Troop bits
Book and hair: greenstuff

WIP: Yaktribe Competition 4, part 2

The first book I made came out way too big, so I needed to sculpt a new one. This time much smaller. :)
Then I glued the left arm to the miniature. It's a hand holding a autopistol, it's from a 40k Chaos Cultist.
To the back side I added a knife to his gear, it's from Cadian Shock Troopers kit. The original High Elf model had some long hippie elf hair on it, so I used that to make the hair look long on the back and bolding on the top by adding hair with GreenStuff.

The model I still missing the right arm, it's going to hold the book when it's cured. Since that is all that is missing at the moment I thought I just might base it already.

The base is a piece of a cork, with some plastic bits here and there. I used Citadel's Liquid Green Stuff to fill the gap I superglued the miniature in.

Also I drilled the barrel hole, never forget to drill the barrel hole if possible. :)

WIP: Yaktribe Competition 4, part 1

My Yaktribe competition entry is moving along nicely. Smoothed the robe/trenchcoat a little more and made it look a bit worn. I added a belt buckle and some pockets to the sash that formely was the bow's sash.
Then I added a small courier like backpack and continued the frontside's sash to go on the backpack. Then I took the knife and made it look worn.

After the backpack I started sculpting a big book for him to carry around, I thought that it will suit him well because the usernamer Loriel just sounds like a wizard kind of bookworm guy :)
The book is a piece of a plasticard wrapped in greenstuff.

Yaktribe Competition 4

I decided to take part in a community competition over at YakTribe. It's a competition where you make a model based on another community members username.

If you don't know what YakTribe is you really should check it out, it's a great community for Necromunda, Mordheim and Gorkamorka players. They have the rules, fluff and everything else there for all of these great games that GW doesn't support anymore.
Go check it out now: http://gaming.yaktribe.org/

So about my competition entry, I decided to make a model for the user Loriel. First thing that popped to my mind was a fantasy wizard, but I want something different for Loriel. I'm planning to make somekind of a cyberpunk mercenary psyker/wizard, in the spirit of Necromunda style. I'll post pictures when I get something scraped togerher.

Oh, and here's the link to the actual competition post:
http://gaming.yaktribe.org/community/threads/yaktribe-competition-4.3137/

I started throwing bits togerher and mindstorming what to do, since Loriel's avatar looks like a High Elf from WHFB I'm thinking about starting of a Island of Blood High Elf.

The body is a Seaguard stantard bearer, I removed the quiver, armor scales, bow and the spear.
I smoothed the removed scales with Citadel Liquid Green Stuff. It still need some work, but it's a work-in-progress.

Terrain: Bunkers, a quick weekend project with kids, part 1

I started a quick terrain project last weekend with my kids. The goal was to craft somekind of terrain pieces with the kids. I got these cartboard boxes from some computerpart package. I dug around my bits-box and found some un used Ork-looted wagon sponsons (the white boxes), some lcd-tv-wallmount-spacers (the black circles), some pvc-pipe bits, straws, plasticard and Mantic-bases.
We decided to make some scifi bunkers. We made the doors from plasticard and hot-clued some bits and pieces on to the boxes.
Here some of the Necromunda Enforcers for scale.

The kids wanted to make them grey, so slammed a coat of grey primer on them. This weekend we are going to finish the painting.

WIP: Necromunda: Enforcers

My Enforcers are coming up nicely. From front to back: Sergeant (Plasma pistol), Heavy (Heavy Stubber), Plasma gun guy, Bolter dude and 2 Combat shotguns.

Heavy Stubber is made from a Chimera Heavy Stubber and the strap and trigger are from Cadian Shock Troop flamer.

Combat Shotguns are a work-in-progress, the base of them is the imperial lasgun but Im going to turn it to shotgun with some greenstuff.
