HAHAA, got you offguard, a suprise update!

Long time, no post, here is a tumbleweed:

Now let's get this show on the road. Lot's have happened since the last update, some of which even related to the hobby. First of all I've developed some sort of a book addiction.
Here are some books that I've got and have read some of them.
1. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, excellent book, if you like ASOIAF -series, you love this too.
2. Kudottujen Kujien Kaupunki (English version: City of Woven Streets), http://www.emmiitaranta.com/city-of-woven-streets super good book, about a island city where the story follows a weaver girl and the things going down on this very different society. Emmi Itäranta's second book, I would also recommend for you to read the first book, Memory of Water, http://www.emmiitaranta.com/memory-of-water , amazing world with a massive shortage of drinking water and a world of drought. Excellent book, cannot recommend enough.
3. Ready Player One, just started this one, it's looks like a fun book in a troubled near-future where every one escapes reality to this massive virtaul one, it's a book full on 80's pop references, I feel right at home with this one.
4. The Great Dune Trilogy, the first three Dune books, I got this one with the same order as the Ready Player One to get a discount, might give this one a try after that one.

The dwarfs are all primed up and ready to paint. I have actually started these a little bit with my son, as it's his army. More to come.

Quick terrain piece I made with kids, some stone warehouse, for a fantasy battlefield.
There's a new 40k Patrol turnament at my local gaming store, my list is 2 trukks full of shoota boys, 3 deffkoptas in groups of 2 and 1, 5 Mek Gunz with Kustom-Mega-Cannons with all the grots and ammo runt's you can get, everything is so full of rokkits as they could be. Needed to build one new trukk and 3 more Mek Gunz for the list. Pictures below:

As a cherry on the "top", got a new airbrush compressor, super silent, very nice, much air, such compression.

WIP: Mekgunz

Just a quick post, making Mekgunz, kitbashing a Ork Trukk. I got 2 boxes on mekgunz and one Trukk. Trukk had 6 tires so I get 3 Mekgunz of it. The high wall around the actual gun part are plasticard and greenstuff, rest of it is just Trukk parts so far. Needed 3 Boarding Planks, so one is from second Trukk box that I didn't use on my Trukk.
More pics as the project continues.

UPDATE:

All five main bodies are now done. Next up is the gun assembly and for the the Trukk-mek-gunz the energy source too since they don't have the battery box yet.

2 Sept 2015

Local gaming store turned 27, made them a terrain piece, again.

So I made this Imperial Guard themed memorial statue for my local gaming store because they turned 27 1st of September. I made the Iguana Bob piece last time.
The Statue has a 40mm square base, the "stone" part is 20x20mm 30mm long piece of pine. The plate is just some 0,5mm plasticard, IG tank guys pinned and super clued to the "stone" part. The pine is screwed and clued to the base.
Citadel Adeptus Battlegrey on the stone parts and Vallejo Brassy Brass to the rest of this.
Wash with Citadel Thraka Green and Devlan mud.
Extra wash with Thraka Green and super thinned down Vallejo Falcon Turquoise. Then a coat of Vallejo Satin Varnish, finally added some Army Painter tuft on the base. Done.

WIP: AM Sentinel

It's tournament time again and I'm busy taking part in a modeling competition, painting my tournament list and assembling new units for my list.

Last night I started on the AM Sentinel. This is a very cool looking model and I especially like the armoured version of it.

I made the base ready and primed it late last night. I also assembled the Sentinel to a point where I need to figure out the position of the legs on the base.

The ruin on the base is made of cork. The bits on the base are from Citadel's resin basing kit, http://www.games-workshop.com/en-FI/Citadel-Warhammer-40-000-Basing-Kit
I sawed straight edges on the resin pieces and sanded the bottom side of them, then I super-glued them to the base next to the wall and in the corner of the ruin.

The Sentinel has been magnetized. The gun is swappable and the fusalage attaches to the legs by a pair of magnets, to ease transportation and to change poses.

Terrain: Bunkers, a quick weekend project with kids, part 1

I started a quick terrain project last weekend with my kids. The goal was to craft somekind of terrain pieces with the kids. I got these cartboard boxes from some computerpart package. I dug around my bits-box and found some un used Ork-looted wagon sponsons (the white boxes), some lcd-tv-wallmount-spacers (the black circles), some pvc-pipe bits, straws, plasticard and Mantic-bases.
We decided to make some scifi bunkers. We made the doors from plasticard and hot-clued some bits and pieces on to the boxes.
Here some of the Necromunda Enforcers for scale.

The kids wanted to make them grey, so slammed a coat of grey primer on them. This weekend we are going to finish the painting.
